SPM actions
2025-2030
Over five years, the SPM program is rolling out a series of initiatives designed to foster dialogue between the physics, mathematics, and probability communities on common themes. Colloquiums, calls for applications, seminars, and interdisciplinary meetings will punctuate this collective adventure.
2025-2026: launch of the program
On June 2, 2025, an inaugural day marked the official start of the SPM program.
At the beginning of the academic year, a call for applications (from September 15 to November 16, 2025) will select two Junior Research Chairs (JRC) for the 2026 academic year.
In October 2025, the program will welcome its first two postdoctoral fellows, Friedrich Hübner (LPENS) and Ronan Memin (DMA).
Two major scientific events will punctuate this first year:
• March 9–10, 2026: Colloquium on Generalized Hydrodynamics, organized by Alvise Bastianello, Friedrich Hübner, Alessandra Iacobucci, Ronan Memin, and Stefano Olla.
• May 18–20, 2026: Conference on Recent Progress on Self-Interacting Processes and Non-Reversible Monte Carlo (DMA), organized by Brune Massoulié and Julien Brémont.
Finally, on June 2, 2026, a colloquium at Paris Dauphine University - PSL will close this first stage.
2026-2027: consolidation and outreach
The program will be enriched by a summer school, two guest colloquiums, and a one-day symposium open to a wide audience.
A new call for applications for two JRCs will be launched in September 2026, followed by the arrival of the winners in October.
2027-2028: exchanges and continuity
Two guest colloquiums and a new symposium day will strengthen collaboration between teams.
The call for applications for the 2028 JRCs will open in September 2027, with appointments scheduled for October.
2028-2029: interdisciplinary dialogues
The first semester of 2028 will be devoted to a series of thematic discussions at the Institut Henri Poincaré on the links between statistical physics and mathematics.
2029-2030: conclusion of the program
The final year will feature two guest colloquiums, a public open day, and a closing event bringing together all the program's partners and participants.
